Dr. Sonty is fellowship-trained clinical psychologist with expertise in pain management and behavioral medicine. She is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Depts. of Anesthesiology and Psychiatry, College of Physician & Surgeons, Columbia University. She is also the director of the pain psychology postdoctoral program.

Her area of clinical expertise includes non-pharmacological approaches to pain management including headaches, and other chronic illnesses. Her interventions include short-term, cognitive behavioral therapy and biofeedback with both teens and adults.

Her research interests include resilience, coping with chronic pain and socio-demographic factors contributing to pain-related distress and disability.
