Leena Mathew is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Additionally she has trained in complementary medicine from New York Medical College in 2002 and has certification and licensure in Acupuncture as well. She is also the Associate Director of the Pain Medicine Fellowship Program.

Since finishing her fellowship in 2003 Dr. Mathew has been in Practice at NYPH as an attending physician in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at Columbia University. She is avidly involved in patient care, research and house staff education.

Her areas of special interest are interventional pain medicine in acute, chronic and cancer pain, the use of complementary medicine especially acupuncture as an adjunct analgesic modality, and investigating socio-demographic patient and physician factors influencing pain perception and treatment disparities
